Tolo Toys Sneezy Wind Chime Review

A fiend of mine had a similar wind chime but I couldn't find that model, so I purchased this instead for my infant (1 month old). She loved it and so did we (it is like a wind chime, a very pleasant sound).This is designed to hang from one of those overhead bars in a baby playset and not something you'd buy just by itself.She can swat at it and easily make sweet music. As a child develops they can grab the chimes and shake them to make "music" also.My friend's baby loved his and so does my daughter.She can play with this for an hour easily several times a day.Only wish I had bought this sooner.

Sassy Smile Baby Talking Camera Review

We got this camera for my 6 month old for Christmas. He really enjoyed playing with it. But the orange paint on the button at the top started chipping off just two days after Christmas. The paint chips off very easily. It comes off in small flecks with light rubbing. That's definitely not a good feature for babies who like to put everything in their mouths. So we had to trash an otherwise entertaining toy. Stay away from this toy.

Manhattan Baby Whoozit WhooHoo Activity Toy Review

This toy is my daughters favorite. She loves it, and it has become our go to item with her. She is 9 months and got it when she was 4 months. The star arms have a rattle in them and the green and polka dot legs are plush so she can put them in her mouth and chew on them. There is a Velcro loop on top so you can attach it to a carrier, etc and the nose is a squeak toy with a mirror underneath. I haven't put it through the wash, so far I have only needed to spot clean it but it has held up pretty well from everyday wear and tear. All in all, I am very pleased.

Crib Rail Teether Review

I think it works fine.Luckily it fits my crib perfectly(I have the Oeuf Classic Crib)I had to purchased 3 boxes to go around all 4 sides of my crib and the corners are still without the guard but my daughter doesn't go "at it" there so its fine. 4 pieces are needed for one side of the crib.It will have visible seams which isn't pretty but serves its purpose.She's 8 months old so she hasn't figured out if it comes off or not.Our crib is white and the clear teething guard is actually a blue/purple tinted clear so don't expect totally clear.I gave it 3 stars because I'm not certain it won't be thrown across the room within a few months.....we'll see.

We bought this as a gift for our 9 month old niece and she loved it, and was mesmerized by the baby photos and the music. Although, any colorful musical thing may have satisfied her. But I think this is a nice gift for a baby. It does seem like it might be hard for the baby to pull the hanging cord down unless it's attached from above, meaning if you just put it in the babies lap, they won't be able to pull it.

Infantino Picnic Play Shape Sorter Review

I thought this was a brilliant idea for a toy and so I purchased two for my twin boys.

I thought not only would they be able to play with the shape sorter part of it, but the top opened like a traditional picnic basket so that they could put things in and out as well that way.

The problem is that the quality of this toy - especially for the price - is very low.The plastic is thin so the basket bends a great deal, and therefore the top pieces will NOT AT ALL stay on the basket.The plastic is so flimsy that you really can't even PUT the TOPS on it, the basket widens so that the tops' tabs don't reach from side to side.It is very frustrating.

The idea is so great that I may actually try to find some sort of rubber gasket or figure out a way to lengthen the tops' tabs so that it will actually stay on top.Even if I have to make it a permanent solution, I would.

But as is, this toy is not worthwhile.Very unfortunate.

Manhattan Baby Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Alphabet Fill and Spill Review

This was really cute! I loved that each of the little pieces had different noises. My daughter loves to rattle them. It's made out of plastic, with a mesh bottom, and cloth tree top. The letters feel like those iron ons for clothing- I am skeptical they will hold up but only time will tell. My daughter is 8 months and it is age appropriate! Either way this really cute and I would recommend it!

Infantino Puzzle, Spin and Match Review

The "spinner" on these cards is extremely hard to use -- no way could a child use it.I would have returned this product except it was too much of a hassle.So I put it in the playbox.The two cards that fit together as puzzle pieces will not stay together -- they are very thin.The puzzle has to be done flat on a hard surface just like an adult puzzle -- but kids like to do puzzles on carpets, waving them in the air, etc.This is not possible with this toy. And the "spinner" gets frustrating because it takes so much effort to spin it. Wish I had not bought it.

Tolo Toys Rolling Shape Sorter Review

I recently bought this for my 19 month old who absolutely LOVES it!She'll actually sit down and play with it for a good 30 or 40 min, take a break, then come back to it and play with it again for another half hour.The shapes are the perfect size for her little hands.Each shape is also a rattle, so they make fun noises for younger babies.

A parent can easily open the sorter by twisting either the top or bottom, but I think it would be very difficult for a baby or toddler to open. The other thing I like about this sorter is that it has three shapes on either end, so as the baby becomes more confident with the toy, they will learn how to flip it over to find the opening they need rather then mom turning it for them.My daughter started out with a sorter that was a bucket with a flat lid that had 4 different shapes on top.This worked when she was younger (though she still liked all sorters), but has since masteed it and therefore grown tired of it.This new sorter adds a new challenge, so it's still interesting for her.Another nice feature is that each shape and opening is color coded making it easier for the child to find and match the shapes.It's obviously also a great chance to teach colors.

The only negative I can mention is a minor one.The hole for the round shape isn't very tight, so sometimes the circle falls back out.It doesn't bother my daughter (I don't think she notices), she just pops it back in.Some shapes need to pushed a little harder then you'd expect, but that's just helped my daughter to learn the word 'push.'

All in all, I'd say it's an excellent toy that, if bought as early as 8 months, will easily last you for a year if not longer.

Infantino Puzzle, My 1st World of Animals Review

We have lots of Infantino puzzles-- in fact I pre-ordered this before it was released. I thought my son would enjoy the round shape.

I don't recommend and would have returned it except that the box got recycled before I got a chance to do so. Why? Most Infantino puzzles are of nice sturdy cardboard that holds up to toddler play. This is much, much cheaper and flimsy cardboard that warped on the first play. A warped puzzle makes for a very frustrated toddler and a seriously annoyed momma. The graphics aren't that interesting (kind of muted but acceptable) however the shapes are very indistinct. It is almost impossible to figure out that the eagle goes next to the polar bear goes next to the bear etc. A few of them have clear marking but most could go anywhere. Finally, the box doesn't have a complete picture of the puzzle so if a kid (or ha-- a parent) has learned to use that resource they can't.

My son got a set of the Clink & Chew Keys as a gift yesterday.This morning I found him with blue paint all over his face!!!The blue spots on the key chain are painted on and it easily chips right off!!I am very concerned considering all of the issues with lead paint on toys these days.I believe and explanation from the company is in order or a warning to parents.The toy is rated for 6 months and older (my son is almost 7 months) and at that age they certainly cannot be expected to know which part of the toy is teething safe.

I got this from a friend as a gift and my baby loves this toy! We don't leave the house without it. She loves to shake it and chew on it and stretch it. Precious Moments Prayer Pal - Boy in Pajamas Review

We got one of these for my son when he was born - he just turned 5 and the batteries finally gave out so we had to replace it (my 3.5 yr old has his own).It is an important part of our bedtime routine and even travels with us so it can "watch over" my son while he sleeps.I wouldn't recommend it as a toy, since squeezing it illicits the prayer.

This is without a doubt my 7 mo daughter's favorite toy.She can easily hold it and chew on the crinkly fabric leaves.I was disappointed to get it in red however; I thought it was going to be pink.But it's still a wonderfully age-appropriate fun toy for her.

Sassy Vibrating Teether Developmental Toy Review

This was recommended by Parents magazine, so I did not look at reviews and just bought it.Actually, I bought it twice because the first shipment ended up covered in the snowbank & I forgot I ordered it already.Well, neither worked.

The first vibrated for the first hour or so.The second just arrived & it won't vibrate at all.

I used another vibrating star teether for my first son from First Years, but that's was hard for him to get to work.I had higher hopes for this one.Nope.And I ordered another one from Leapfrog that also arrived today - that doesn't vibrate either.

A good concept, if someone could make one that works well.

Ballino Review

This ball is very well made, tennis ball sized.A bungee cord holds it together giving it the ability to bend from side to side producing a nice wooden clak.My 7 month old has had this for a few months and she definitely likes it.I admit I thought it was a bit of an odd shape for a baby to pick up but my daughter doesn't seem to care and has no problems with it and even seems to enjoy the unusual build of it.She still sucks on the ball although you would think that would be hard too.It looks fascinating when it's spun like a top.I imagine she will continue to like this ball as she grows and can start to really participate in rolling it about.As for us adults in the house, we find ourselves absently-mindly holding it and softly clacking it from one side to another- ahhh... baby toy therapy.

Käthe Kruse 74805 "Grabbing Toy" Giraffe Review

I bought this for my niece for Christmas last year, she was about 4 months old, and it was the first toy she really was able to hold. It has very soft jersey material covering soft stuffing, and it had a nice smell when I received it. Highly recommended!

Gund Baby Deetle Activity Toy Review

This is a great toy for early development.The bright, contrasting colors and the mirror are great for newborns.Our son was staring at the mirror at two weeks, and pushing on the toy by three.It is the first toy that he has truly interacted with.Plus, the look of the toy is fun and whimsical, so it looks great in the nursery.

I will be adding this to our repertoire of new baby gifts to give in the future.

Pooh Baby's 1St Pooh Bear Review

I got this as a little extra gift for my grandson's first Christmas.He loved it...he is just 6 montss and smiled and fingered and held it. Earlyears Lil' Shopper Play Set Review

My folks bought this little bag of groceries for my 8-month old son, and it has been a huge hit ever since. He loves playing with everything in the bag--the banana you can "peel," the chiming apple, the crinkly cabbage, the orange that opens--even the bag. His absolute favorite is the milk carton, which is smooth and smooshy and has a little mirror. I think it feels good on his gums (he's teething ferociously).

Highly recommend for a gift for little ones!

Tolo Toys Shape Sorter Play Bench Review

This is one of my son's favorite toys. He loves hammering on it and is very interested in the concept of getting the shapes into the correct hole.
The string attaching the hammer is so short that it makes the hammer very hard to use, even for daddy. If the string were longer it would probably be a strangulation hazard, but there is no good reason for the hammer to be tied on. (If you're worried about keeping all the parts together there are already 6 shape pieces that could come out and get lost under the furniture.) I cut the string off at both ends to make the toy usable.

Fisher-Price Rock-A-Stack Review

I purchased the Rock-a-Stack for my 6 month old son on Friday April 3,2009. I came home to wash the product and soon realized the water I was washing it in was blue. Then my hands and arms were stain blue. I was very grateful that I washed this product before giving it to my son. Who knows what type of paint Fisher-Price uses and even if they say it is non-toxic as parents I am sure we don't want our children getting the paint in their mouth. I scrubbed the blue ring for a couple of minutes and there is still dye coming off of the ring. I can't imagine if I gave this to my son, his clothes, skin, blankets, and our carpet would have been stained blue.

I called the 800 number for Fisher-Price and they did not seem the lease bit concerned. I have written more about our experience at :rock-a-stackbluering.blogspot.com

I DO NOT recommend this product and I hope this is taken off the shelves at stores ASAP!

HABA Wooden Baby Toy - Piro Review

Piro is great.A very sturdy toy, and a very cute clown.I'm reassured that it passed German quality control as being nontoxic, because my daughter has diligently chewed on it, and undoubtedly consumed some of the paint.

Have you noticed the recent press about lead in the vinyl that the US testing agents feel is "safe" for our kids?Really?Lead is safe?Oh well, that is whyI avoid Chinese and American toys now.European standards are much more strict.

Anyway, a great, bendy little clown.Thumbs up from this dad.
